A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault resulted in the temporary shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Police detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at about 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The attack - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
